About Our Chapter
Our Chapter was chartered in 1985.

We've been conducting the Clarion Christmas Bird Count since we established it in 1987.

Our chapter received the first Conservation Award from the Pennsylvania Society for Ornithology in 2005, for our efforts to protect and sustain the habitat at Piney Tract (Mt. Zion). This is now part of State Gamelands 330, and is recognized as a Global Important Bird Area. We continue to work with the PA Game Commission to maintain this habitat.

Founding member Gary Edwards was awarded the Earl Poole Award by the Pennsylvania Society for Ornithology in 2011 for his contributions to ornithology in Pennsylvania.

Our chapter serves Clarion, Forest, Venango, and Jefferson Counties.
See our newsletters, The Drummer, and other pages here for current projects and activities. These include purchasing children's nature books for local libraries, Bird-Friendly Habitat, Christmas Bird Count, bird walks, and community science.
